Breaking the Silence:

Mental Health in the Fire Service (FASNY Convention 2025)

CHRIS LEUZINGER

Most of you know Chris Leuzinger as the founder of Nourishing Minds—someone passionate about helping people grow, learn, and feel confident in their own abilities. But what you might not know is that when he’s not working with students and families, he’s also serving our community as 1st Assistant Chief with the Wilton Fire Department.

In this short video from the FASNY 2025 Convention, Chris speaks about something that’s close to his heart: mental health in the fire service. Firefighters face challenges that go far beyond what you see when the sirens are blaring. The emotional toll of the job can be heavy, and Chris believes it’s just as important to talk about mental wellness as it is to train for emergencies.

At Nourishing Minds, we’ve always believed in the power of open conversation. That same belief guides Chris in the firehouse—reminding his fellow first responders that it’s okay to speak up, ask for help, and support one another.

Take a few minutes to watch the video. It’s a reminder that strength isn’t just about bravery in dangerous moments—it’s also about taking care of yourself and those around you, inside and out.
